This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor and conduct preventative and remedial maintenance to ensure the integrity of civil assets associated with a wind farm.
Wind farm civil assets include infrastructuresuch as water treatment facilities, sewer pipelines, roads, utility grids, bridges, tunnels and railways. Civil asset maintenance in a wind power generation system involves the use of strategies to preserve and extend the service life of infrastructure.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan work, monitor wind farm civil assets, maintain wind farm civil assets and complete all work. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator, in a power generation facility.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
